Perfect 1:87 scale reproduction of the locomotive E.646.001 of the FS, as it was at the delivery to the FS by the constructor TIBB in 1958 (era IIIb). Original “castano/isabella” livery (dark brown/light brown) with brown bogies. All details comply with the historical setting: original narrow front steps, original disposition of side air intakes, original short supports on roof border, security pantographs devices and intake for Musso valve on roof of cabin A, one wiper on driver’s side, original central flag support, without horns on the roof, old type Hasler mechanic tachometer, original high tension devices, dampers between bodies, old type air couplers on buffer beams, old type buffers and lamp rings, without signalling repetition devices. Front gutters and external security tap for pantographs. Pantographs type 42 LR with curved skid blade.
In October 1958, the TIBB of Vado Ligure delivered to the FS the first prototype for the new E.646 group: even though it was technically a big improvement comparing to the previous E.636, setting a new benchmark for power and performances, aesthetically the E.646.001 was very similar to its predecessors, being the bodyshell directly derived for the second series units (E.636.113-276), from which it inherited even the predisposition on the roof for the “Musso” valve, part of the “D’Arbela” security device never installed on the E.646 group. Also the livery was the same of the E.636: body in “isabella” light brown with chassis, roof and bogies in “castano” dark brown, which was soon replaced by the typical livery in “magnolia” green with stylized wings and roof in “fog” grey.
