“Berliner Roller ”
Under the regular name IWL SR59 Berlin is the one from 1959-1963 in the VEB Industriewerk Ludwigsfelde produced »Berliner scooter« rather not common. With 114,000 manufactured models he is the leader and thus the most built scooter in the GDR. The 150 cc 7.5 hp air-cooled single-cylinder two-stroke engine accelerated the scooter to a maximum of 82 km / h, with a consumption of 3.2 liters per 100 km. Today, the Berlin scooter is an absolute cult object.
“Schwalbe”
High-flyers! Tell and write a million copies of the moped “Schwalbe” (exact designation KR51) left in the years 1964-1986 the production plant Simson in Suhl / Thuringia. In GDR times, the vehicle was to be found in the entire Eastern Bloc and since reunification in 1990, the wave of enthusiasm spilled over into the entire federal territory. One of the reasons is probably that it was one of the few mopeds in the FRG that was allowed to drive 60 km / h fast. The displacement of the air-cooled one-cylinder two-stroke engine is 50 cc with an engine output of 3.4 hp. The swallow is also one of the cult vehicles today. Perhaps also because anyone who can handle a wrench can perform any repairs themselves.
