Ratio 413 Water Crane & Fire Devil Plastic Kit. Also Included Is A Fire Devil. This Consists Of A Coke Brazier And A Long Chimney Flue To Direct The Hot Exhaust Gases Onto The Main Cast Iron Pipe. This Device Would Be Kept Lit In Freezing Temperatures To Maintain Water Supplies To The Trains Throughout The Hard Winter Months. Stations Often Had These Water Cranes At The Ends Of Each Platform So That Locomotives Could Replenish Their Tanks During Long A Journey Without Having To Be Uncoupled From The Train. The Cranes Were Usually Supplied By A Large Water Tank (See Ratio Kit 506). Model Is Based On A Great Western Prototype.
